How to Cook Pinto Beans
Soaking the beans overnight can help reduce the cooking time.
- Rinse the beans thoroughly.
- Soak overnight in plenty of cold water, then drain.
- Add to a large pan with fresh water.
- Bring to the boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
- Cook until tender, checking regularly.
Stovetop Pinto Beans
450g Aksoy Pinto Beans, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 medium onion, 1 tsp minced garlic, 2 bay leaves and 4 cups water.
- Soak the beans overnight, then drain and rinse.
- Add the beans to a pan with water or broth and your preferred seasoning.
- Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer with the lid slightly ajar.
- Cook for around 45–90 minutes, or until the desired texture is reached.
- Add a little extra water during cooking if needed.
